windows2000 server及以上版本里都带有一个工具叫Network Monitor， 可以准确（到字节数和packet数）地监测某个网卡的流量。 或者大部分服务器用的网卡都带有自己的流量监测和管理工具， 更好用一些。

如果是用DUMeter的话， 100M的网卡和hub（或switch）能看到稳定在9.2Mb左右（偶尔出现10－11左右的峰值）的速度就已经是非常好的了。 理论速度只有12Mb左右， 实际上是不可能达到的。 要想更快， 就要换千兆的网卡和交换机了， 这样你可以达到23Mb左右。 但这是因为你的IDE硬盘限制了你的速度， 如果换成Ultra160 SCSI硬盘， 可以达到33Mb左右， 如果再换成66位的Ultra160 SCSI整列， 就可以达到90Mb左右， 这已经快达到千兆网卡和交换机的上限了。

千兆网卡和交换机 is used on the server side rather than client side right now.  uplink should be faster than access link.  There is less bottle neck.  

i have some question as well.  I have intel network card which is very fast and it can find all the neighbour computer instantly.  but for the C-net network card, it take years to find all the neighbours.  I am not sure why.  Is there any cache in the intel network card?

这和网卡的品牌与型号并没有关系， 和卡上的cache大小也没有关系。
绝大部分的网卡上都集成有cache， 一般是16K－64K。 目前有非常高端的网卡上集成有1M的cache。但是网卡上的cache仅仅只是一种buffer（缓冲区）， 主要是用来加速traffic的， 高端的网卡用大容量的cache来off-loading（也就是分担）一些本来需要机器CPU来处理的工作（比如IP-Checksum之类的）。

thanks 何丘, now i know the cache is for fast data transfer and off-load cpu.  
But i have Still a question.
why intel network card can find neighbor in the workgroup faster than CNet network ?  Intel take around 3sec to return all the host in the same workgroup but C Net will take 30 sec around.  I just cannot finger out why.  
I have already enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP in both machine

如果NETBEUI没有用的话，把它删除掉
