What is adapter teaming?
Intel server adapters provide several options for increasing throughput and fault tolerance when running Windows 2000, Windows NT 4.0, or NetWare 4.1x or newer: Not all adapters support the options below.
Adapter Fault Tolerance(AFT) - provides automatic redundancy for your adapter. If the primary adapter fails, the secondary takes over. You can create up to eight Fault Tolerance teams. Each team can have 2 - 8 adapters.
Adaptive Load Balancing (ALB) - creates a team of two to eight adapters to increase transmission throughput. Also includes Fault Tolerance option. Works with most switches.
Fast EtherChannel* (FEC) - creates a team of two, four or eight adapters to increase transmission and reception throughput. Also includes Fault Tolerance option. Requires a switch with FEC capability. You can create up to four teams.
Gigabit EtherChannel (GEC) - creates a team of two, four or eight gigabit adapters to increase transmission and reception throughput. Also includes Fault Tolerance option. Requires a switch with GEC capability. You can create up to four teams.
Link Aggregation - creates a team of two, four or eight adapters to increase transmission and reception throughput. Also includes Fault Tolerance option. Requires a switch with Link Aggregation capability. You can create up to four teams. |
